Soil Testing (Residential)

Soil Testing (Residential)

When you're starting a construction project, whether it’s building a new home, adding an extension, or putting in a pool, knowing the type of soil you're building on is super important. That’s where a Site Classification Report comes in. In Victoria, a Site Classification Report, also known as a soil test, is a must-have right from the design stage of any residential build. You’ll need a soil report to get your building permit, and it’s key to making sure your project is safe and meets all the building regulations.

At North Western Geotechnical, we focus on providing thorough soil testing and analysis to help engineers, architects, and builders make informed decisions and design projects that are cost-effective - saving you both time and money.

Our detailed reports give engineers everything they need to properly design the footings and foundations.

Our Site Classification/Soil Test Reports cover a variety of residential projects, including new homes, ground floor extensions, upper-storey additions, multi-unit developments, dual occupancy projects, pools, decks, and sheds/garages.

For upper storey additions or boundary wall projects, we also conduct a footing probe assessment. This involves digging up existing footings to check their size, founding material and depth, load-bearing capacity, and condition. This in-depth check gives engineers the insights they need to figure out if the current footings can handle the additional load or if there could be any issues.

All our Site Classification Reports meet Australian Standard AS 2870-2011 – Residential Slabs and Footings, ensuring they’re reliable and up to industry standards.

With decades of experience, our Geotechnical Engineers bring trusted expertise you can count on. We aim to provide fast service, with most reports ready within 10–15 business days from booking.

Our methods minimize disruption to your site. Testing early on helps you avoid costly delays and structural issues, and accurate site classifications ensure your project’s safety and longevity. Getting the site classification right from the start sets your project up for success.

At North Western Geotechnical, we’re committed to providing precise, timely, and comprehensive soil testing services so you can feel confident at every stage of your construction project.
